Heather Shimrah Brous (HSB) began her love for fashion at an early age. As the granddaughter of a former NYC Garment Center model and dressmaker, she admired the ability to create from scratch. During her youth, fashion was HSB’s creative outlet, and a form of artistic expression that could be changed from day-to-day and season-to- season. Encouraged by friends who touted HSB as a trendsetter, along with her growing appreciation for textiles, she switched her college major from Business-Advertising to Fashion Buying and Merchandising. In 1996, HSB completed her FBM degree and an Internship at Macy’s (Special Events Dept.). HSB continued at FIT for post graduate courses in Graphic Design and has furthered her art studies by taking classes at The Art Student's League of New York. While finishing her schooling, HSB worked part-time as a Sales-Merchandising Assistant at one of the most well-know boutiques, (ACCODA) in her hometown on Long Island. Later, HSB continued her retail experience at Hirshleifer’s, where the iconic haute couture merchandise furthered her appreciation for unique and impeccably tailored clothing. HSB’s NYC Garment Center career consisted of a steady climb through the world of Sales and Merchandising at multi-line showrooms, managing the licensed Millinery division at TAHARI, and merchandising her own outerwear label (BUTTONS) at Louise Paris. In 2008, HSB decided to design her own line and form her own business. Inspired by her extensive travels, nature and the environment, HSB began putting pencil to paper and sketched out her ideas for the types of stylish clothing that she felt were missing from the shelves and racks of her favorite retailers: Exceptionally well-constructed, eco-friendly garments with timeless, yet unique sporty elegance, and multifunctional wear-ability.
